Scenes from the closing night of wexford drama festival.
I was delighted to be a part of this amazing festival this year and look forward to an ongoing partnership to help do my bit to document and promote this event to people in the area, because this is an event that needs to be promoted and attended.
The standard of the performances was amazing, there are no superlatives adequate enough to describe them, especially when you consider that these actors are unpaid and performing for the sheer joy of it, and to be honest, they deserve to be paid actors performing in film and in theatres around the world. They were that good.
This year was my first year working with it, and I was just observing the event, seeing what they do, the players, and the organisers, and how I can capture the scene without interfering. Because in my work, especially for events like this, I want to capture not just the formal but the candid and while many will use flash in such a low-lit environment, I like to push my cameras to their limits in capturing images without flash, so that skin tones look natural and we don’t have those annoying glares in spectacles.
I am including a small selection of the shots here, just to show what I did and what this festival entails. Next March, if you are in Ireland, then I really urge you to get to Wexford and attend this festival, you will not regret it, and the tickets are so cheap, around €20 per ticket for a show, where else would you get it? And seriously, you WILL be blown away.
